Christmastime is here :) its caught you there in the USA with tons of snow and cold. But here, it's consistently caught me with one thing.
a red ribbon.
The one decoration in my house, and the one thing that I see everyday.
Yes, all the malls are decked out and there are christmas festivities there, but when do i usually go to a mall unless i need pencils or something? And, yes, when we go to Medan- there will definitely be a christmastree (no stockings!) and tons of family.
but right now, this is the one thing that reminds me that i have to buy presents, that many years ago, there was one star- that gave away the hiding place of the one baby, that would change our world.
this red ribbon reminds me that christmas does not need to be anything, it was never about presents, it was never about the snow (by the way, there was no snow when Jesus was born, he was in the middle east- and there's no record of it snowing. unless i'm totally wrong on this point :] ) but it was about the one thing that- if you strip away every other thing about christmas- that Jesus was born!
WOOHOO!
and that his red ribbon of blood is the one that saved us all, that's the one thing that will never be taken away, no matter what else may be.
and that's what i'm holding onto this Christmas.
i'll be around- on facebook and weebly. telling you about our christmas trip to Medan.
but just so your aware- this is my mindset :)
God is here, He has come down, He is among men, and He is in both Indonesia and the USA.
Merry Christmas friends and family, this one will be different, but no matter what form it comes in, Christmas is truly about Our King.
that's what matters
*p.s. hey mom, now i see what Lee means, I totally understand that there is still Christmas even if you don't give presents or anything.* :)
love you all.
please eat some snow for me, christmas cookies, ham, potatoes;
smile and cry because our God is so good.
and remember- that were both holding on to the one person, the one thing that is the same yesterday, today, and forever :)
