I love you Laura.
Bulle-
That is exactly what i get called when I walk out of the house- and it has gotten annoying only once so far- and as a reaction, i stared back :)
otherwise, it's like I could part the red sea like a super model, which I can't let get to my head, and is really hard to stay humble through, but I don't know Bahasa and can't respond to anything they say to me- so I smile, or just ignore because I don't actually know they're talking to me!
Today we walked around our little neighborhood so that I would know my way around a little bit... Indonesia has huge shopping malls and we live right next to PIM- one of the biggest. So Naomi, Jessica, and Fisca showed me the way to there- the dentist, and the doctor. Afterwards we headed out to the museum of Textile, but it was closed because of Ramadhan, so we went to the national monument instead- I'm not sure what it's called but it was the last monument that their first president made. I learned a lot about important things in Indonesia history. Like the day that someone important said they would eat some type of rice until the country was united-
it was like looking at important American days, except a bit different, since it wasn't American!
There were people picnicing all over the place, inside and out, and tons selling anything to get some kind of cash.
We went up to the third floor and since Fisca had worked there before, she knew the back way into it- or at least it felt like the back way since many people were not going up there.
It was so beautiful- they thought hot, but i thought beautiful, since it was also windy. It's a bit like the statue of liberty, with a flame at the top- and if you go all the way up to it and look down at the gardens around it, you can see that it is in the design of Batik- a infamous and thoroughly recognized Indonesian traditional design. I'm going to make it very soon in clothe :) or at least learn how to!
Afterward we went to Bamki GM which was great with nasi goreng - fried rice - one of the few words i knew before I came here! and I had to pick through skillfully with chopsticks! to not get the chicken or shrimp- since my typhoid shot doesn't activate until wednesday. Can't wait! So many foods await me!
We afterwards went to pick up Mama Shirley from work- a German airline, and i learned that Papa Ronald buys and sells houses, but he is generally retired. Very interesting day, today!
I am off to bed very soon for tomorrow we go swimming and horse back riding! I'm not too worried about school because I have learned two phrases so far in BAhasa that I put together by myself and pronounced correctly without anyone helping me today!
Saya suka hujan (I like rain!)
Saya suka situ sebab situ suka seyum-seyum sama saya
(I like you becuase you like smiling at me)
Yep. that one is a child's phrase so they get their s's's workin'!
also: check facebook for pictures if i didn't say it before. they upload so much faster here than on weebly, and i would if i could- but they're all going to be
Have a good day/night wherever you are friends and loved ones!
:)
