The first day- yesterday- was slimy yet satisfying. I got off the plane and met Indra and Evita right away. I was like a crab in a sea of fish or something. Everyone around me was dark brown with almond eyes, and I was bula- Caucasian- that's the slang term for it.
We got my luggage, walked through customs, and then out where everyone would meet me- and boy, did they! Huge Rotary sign and another one with pictures of me :) Very, very nice!
The trees are palms, and the Batubaras are so much like my own family. Funny and casual. :) There is Jessica, who is nine, and michevious- and I'm loving her, because she teaches me vocab like I'm her age, which is necessary. I've only got until September 20th- which is the day Tirta Marta starts up again because of Rahmadan (sp?). Naomi will not be going to my school, and I will be in all Bahasa-speaking classes. Oh, Lord, please help me!
We went to their home, which I will put pictures up of when I figure out how to with their computer since mine isn't working yet: met with everyone again and then went out to eat- since I hadn't actually had a meal in a day. Ate Salad- because i can't be eating any meats/fish until next week, since my Typhoid shot works after two weeks, and I only took it last week.
Yesterday was like Christmas Eve for Rahmadan, so today we'll be going to celebrate because Papa Ronald's relative converted to Muslim and we'll be celebrating with her.
My birthday is tomorrow! And Roberto- a foreign exchange student from Brazil- will be celebrating ont the 25th together- cause his birthday was this month too.
More later, and even more when my laptop starts working. I'll figure it out someday.
